Asian Rhinoplasty Surgery

The anatomy of the Asian nose is very different from a Caucasian nose; typically, the Asian nose has less definition and projection. The bridge also begins slightly lower on the face as compared to Caucasian noses. Oftentimes, Asians want to redefine their noses by creating better symmetry and a more desired shape. These individuals may choose to undergo Asian nose surgery (“Asian rhinoplasty surgery”). Los Angeles plastic surgeon Charles S. Lee, M.D., F.A.C.S. is an Asian rhinoplasty specialist who can help you achieve an improved appearance. At Enhance ® Medical Center, Inc. in Beverly Hills, Dr. Lee offers procedures specifically designed to alter Asian facial anatomy.

“I am one of the most extensively trained Asian eyelid and nose surgeons in the U.S. and the one of very few with double board certification in eye and nose surgery.”
-Dr. Charles S. Lee-

In comparison to other ethnic groups, the Asian facial anatomy differs in the size of the nose and the appearance of the nasal tip. Dr. Lee will use different techniques to adequately address rhinoplasty for Asians, which is much more intricate than a traditional nose surgery procedure.

In order to create a nose that is more pronounced, Dr. Lee uses silicone implants to place along the nasal bridge. These implants differ from the silicone used for breast implants. Sometimes, materials such as Porex or Gore-Tex ® can be used in place of silicone. A thin, one millimeter sheet will be laid on top of the nasal bone to smooth out any bumps after the bone has been shaved. If an individual desires a more defined and projected nasal tip, Dr. Lee can alter it through nose surgery. To better blend the nasal tip to the facial appearance, he will use natural tissues, such as from the septum that lies inside the patient’s nose or ear tissue to form a better shape.

Dr. Lee will evaluate your condition and help you decide upon the surgery plan that is right for you. To see examples of Dr. Lee’s patient results, you may view Asian rhinoplasty before and after photos.

Oftentimes, Asian patients also choose to undergo complementary procedures, such as jaw surgery (“jaw reduction”) and/or double eyelid surgery (“blepharoplasty”).
